Sorry about the hiatus. I'm starting college, and the transition makes finding an opportunity to transcribe, and I think my desire to get down every voice exactly is frustrating me. Maybe I should just try piano reductions....

Anyhow, Cras numquam scire. It's a simple song, although partway through when a bunch of harmony lines started entering I gave up on the chords. Matching up the Latin—I think it's Latin—lyrics to the notes was painful. The lyrical feel of the song, the piano and violin harmony, and the Latin lyrics makes this song a really good theme for the anime, which explores knowledge and forbidden knowledge, using the metaphor of books, and lightly referencing a wide range of myths, legends and stories.

I'd also like to remind my readers again that I'm just a newbie transcriber, and I welcome anyone with advice or looking for advice—maybe one of you would like to try transcribing, too. The Internet is a great place for creating, and it's unfortunate that only a small portion of people on the Internet create and a large portion only consume. Try something, make a blog, draw picture, compose songs. The Internet is a (mostly) friendly place, and it's fun!

Be careful with the swing on this one; it's light and subtle in some areas.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko ED - Lulu

Erio-chan is so very cute!

Lulu's melody was very simple and easy, taking me all of fifteen minutes to take down. Textbook B Major, simple rhythm, et cetera. Thus, I took the liberty of flexing my aural muscles and tackling the harmony parts as well.

Among the instruments present are drums and chimes, but I only transcribed the piano snippets and the bass (I believe it is) trombone line, as those two are the most important bits. I had trouble discerning some parts of the background bass voices (I'm really not good with bass), so at some places, notably measures 9-10, I simplified it to what sounds right instead of trying to attain note-for-note accuracy.

Other little things: I decided not to include the chords since there weren't any clear chords actually part of the song (that I could find), this isn't a song that is receptive of comping, and if you really wanted to, you could just bang out B Major and related chords and be perfectly fine.
I debated over how to articulate various notes. Articulation is an important part of the song, but putting staccatos on a soft vocal melody is a little jarring for me, since I'm used to the sharp classical staccato. I'm also not acquainted with articulation on bass brasswinds, so in the end I just put staccatos on short piano notes.

The World God Only Knows II OP TV ver. - A Whole New World God Only Knows

A Whole New World God Only Knows
Oratorio The World God Only KnowsELISA
The World God Only Knows II.神のみぞ知るセカイ II

This song, for me, was like a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. I felt like I had what precious little musical talent I have ripped out of me and repeatedly and ruthlessly beaten. I know the piece ends in E minor, but beyond that, I can only guess at what keys the two melodies are traipsing through.

Although, I have to say that working so intimately with a song such as this really allows me to appreciate how intricately the lyrics of both voices are aligned, especially when the two voices intersect. Also, it's very aurally pleasing when the song transitions from a solo to a duet and back. Not so much the ears dribbling out of the brain after an hours-long transcribing session, though (or something like that).

While I was transcribing (I already started Dream Eater Merry's OP and Star Driver's Monochrome) I was overwhelmed by my desire to transcribe all the voices in the songs, but it's much to impractical, unfortunately. I've limited myself to the melody voices, one line to fill with any conspicuous harmony voices, and the chords. Yes, I haven't done the chords for this song yet (or any other songs, for that matter); I'm still working on my chord-transcribing skill.

I'm definitely getting better as I transcribe more songs; I finished this song in only one sitting; previously, a full song would have taken me at least two sittings.

PLEASE COMMENT! I know I'm not perfect; even though I check my transcriptions, I'm sure there are still mistakes and places where it can be improved. Any comments are appreciated. ^_^

Credit for the lyrics goes to here.

The key changes threw me off, and I kept needing to change the key signature as I transcribed. It would've been easier had I (if I was able to) transcribed the chords as well, but...

The winter season has so many series with good songs, like Yumekui Merry(夢喰いメリー) and Gosick(ゴシック); I'll probably take on those as well.

I finished Chapter One and fixed up Chapter Three; you'll notice that the lyrics for Chapter Three are a bit different; credit for the lyrics go to ThreeLeafIvy and his video. I also reorganized the voicing/staffing so it's more clear overall, although it means harmony voices will have abundant amounts of rests. There also a harmony line for Chapter Three that wasn't present in the TV size version, which is why there's a harmony line full of rests that cuts off at measure 56.

2010-11-23 v0.1
I considered finishing this before posting, but given that this song is so damn long (eight minutes), with multiple voices, it'd probably be awhile before I can finish the transcription.

I dragged the TV size OP transcription I did (chapter three of the song) and added the first chapter of the full version (Yes, this song is divided into chapters; it's that long). So far, both are incomplete, but workable.

The World God Only Knows ED - コイノシルシ

Koi no Shirushiコイノシルシ
Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai神のみぞ知るセカイ

Sorry, guys, but no lyrics or chords for this one! For some reason or another, Lilypond seems to disagree with my syntax somewhere, and it doesn't help that my Lilypond code for this song was essentially a glob of letters and numbers with voices interspersed throughout. Doing this song and God only knows, I'm beginning to appreciate the polyphony that Kaminomi is in love with, and I'm hating it as well because it obfuscates what would otherwise be clear Lilypond code. Ah, well. There's a lot of songs that I've been eying recently and I still need to finish God only knows, so I'm hoping that experience will help me to get Lilypond to cooperate, at which point I'll be able to provide better formatted and embellished sheet music for you guys.
